The event sprang from the popularity of Harling's Upstairs Table Tennis league (see our previous article, "Scenes from KC's ping-pong Fight Club"). The Beaumont Sunday night event included six Olympic-sanctioned Joola ping-pong tables and live DJs. Blazing Paddles is a traveling table tennis event in partnership with bars and nightclub venues throughout Kansas City.
